Coronavirus Update – USA Fencing Mandates Club Closures

USA Fencing sent out a notification earlier today that all clubs should cancel all activities until at least April 6th, and to enforce that they are revoking the liability coverage starting on March 18th. Therefore, all club activities, including practices, classes, private lessons, and social gatherings, are cancelled starting on March 18th. Tonight (the 17th) we will have once last limited practice with open fencing for the first 10 or so fencers as well as private lessons, but there will be no classes. We do not yet know if we will be able to reopen after the 6th, but will continue to monitor the situation and all guidance from the CDC, the WHO, and USA Fencing. All students in our March beginner classes will be able to restart those classes for no additional fee once our practice schedule resumes. All punch cards for intermediate, competitive, and homeschool classes will have their expiration dates extended to account for this downtime.

As a non-profit and small business, the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic cannot be understated. As such, we need your help. For members who are financially able, we kindly ask you to maintain your membership and dues as long as you’re able to do so. This will be critical in minimizing any long-term financial impact to the club and ensuring we will be able to bounce back. Any members that are able to do so will be offered free intensive training sessions once we are able to resume operations, and of course will have our immense thanks!

Stay safe, and stay tuned for further updates about our April schedule.
