YOUTH CONDITIONING Classes
Tidewater Fencing Club offers 30-minute conditioning classes that help prepare youth participants for the physical and mental challenges of fencing and sport in general. For anyone age 10 or younger, these classes are a required prerequisite before starting the Level 1 Beginner Class. For anyone age 11 – 14, these classes are optional.
Participants will Learn:
- the safety rules for the fencing club
- proper stretching techniques
- various drills and games to improve strength, stamina, coordination, and focus
Class Schedule
- Option 1: Wednesdays
- 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Instructor: Varies
- Option 2: Thursdays
- 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm
- Instructor: Varies
Student Requirements
- No previous fencing experience is required
- Required for ages 10 or below; optional for ages 11 – 14
- Participants should attend at least one session per week
- Current USA Fencing Membership
Equipment and Attire
All necessary equipment is borrowed from the club during class. Students must wear proper clothing: t-shirt, stretchable/flexible long athletic pants, and sneakers. Expect to sweat!
Class Pricing
- $50/month for an individual
- additional family members can be added at a 50% discount
- Military discount: $5 off per month (limit one per family, NOT applicable to additional family members)
Important!
In order to fulfill insurance requirements, all participants are required to be current members of USA Fencing. This can be satisfied by filling out a free USA Fencing Trial Membership Application. This trial membership is valid for 90 consecutive days following the date of signing. Please screenshot or print out a copy of the filled-out form to show us at your first class session.
Next Steps
Upon instructor approval, students may enroll in the next available Beginner Level 1 Class. In some cases, students may be encouraged/required to continue taking conditioning classes in parallel to the beginner fencing classes, on different days and with no extra charge.
