Class Info

Tidewater Fencing Club offers beginner fencing classes starting at the beginning of each month, holidays permitting. New monthly activity begins on the first Monday of each month, with the beginner classes starting on the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday after that. TFC also offers instruction and open fencing for experienced fencers. A more detailed calendar is available on our Schedule page, and the details of our classes and member activities are shown below. All students and club members must have an active USFA membership for insurance purposes. All fees must be paid in cash or check, made payable to Tidewater Fencing Club.

USA Fencing Membership

All participants at TFC practices (club members, beginner/intro class students, or guest fencers) are required to be members of the USA Fencing.

  • Trial Membership: Free, 90 consecutive days
  • Access Membership: $29 per person, per season
  • Competitive Membership: $99 per person, per season

Beginner fencers and Intro class participants may apply for a USA Fencing Trial Membership. This free trial membership is valid for 90 consecutive days following the date of signing. After the 90 day trial period ends, all participants will need, at minimum, a USA Fencing “Access” membership, which is $29 per fencer, per season. Seasons run August through July.

The Access level membership is sufficient to participate at our club activities and at local tournaments. The Competitive level is required to compete at Regional and National tournaments. The membership form can be filled out online.
